Mid-Major Win of the Night

It is next to impossible for me to give college basketball the commentary it deserves on a nightly basis. However, certain things get my attention, none moreso whan when a David beats a Goliath, or when a "mid-major" beats a school from a power conference.

Last night, the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts went into Lawrence and shocked the Kansas Jayhawks, 78-71. This is huge for them, as this win most likely keeps them out of a 16th seed if they make the NCAA tournament. ORU is the real deal. They'd probably beat my Sooners by 20 right now.

Coach Scott Sutton will have his pick of big-time jobs in the next couple of years, if he so desires.

Remember the Titans? That was ORU's nickname, before they dropped out of Division I in the late 80's. When they returned to D-1 in the early 90's, they picked up the nickname of Golden Eagles. I personally prefer Titans. Once a Titan, always a Titan.

If only Liberty could have done that with OU the other night! ;)

I like Liberty. I like OU better.

Right now, even though OU manhandled Liberty, I like the Flames' chances of making the Big Dance better. All they have to do is win two or three games in a row in their conference tournament. Of course, that would get them a game with someone like Duke. This is a rebuilding year in Norman. Now the women's team..that's a different story. :-)

Well, it was mentioned a lot on the radio and constantly called, "Bob Sturm's Liberty" which was funny. I wanted them to do better than they did. Oh well. Jerry's gotta pay his players better than he does ... you know like how OU does. ;)

At least they make fun of Liberty because Bob Sturm went there, instead of why most people make fun of Liberty. :-)

Maybe Bob Sturm can be the president of Liberty after God calls Jerry home.. :-)

Oh, they make fun of it for both reasons, but more for Sturm. It was much fun. Uncomfortable Bob Sturm is great fun.

At least Sturm didn't go to ORU when they were the Tidans. LOL
