Turning Thirty

Tonight, I got in the car and heard that the sad sack Rangers set a modern major league record by scoring 30 runs in one game against the Baltimore Orioles in the first game of a doubleheader. I'm in shock.

The Rangers only led 5-3 going into the top of the sixth inning, before going on an unprecedented tear. They scored nine runs in the sixth, 10 in the eighth, and six in the ninth. Wow. Texas won the game, 30-3.

I haven't seen any highlights or heard any comments. For the Baltimore bullpen, this is a meltdown of massive proportions.

The Rangers, even when they are horrible, never cease to be interesting. For Baltimore, this is yet another black mark on a once-proud franchise.

I'm in shock.

They broke into the Ticket Top Ten with breaking sports news about this. The Rangers kicked ace on this! Saltalamacchia had seven RBIs!

Also, the Rangers won the second game of the double header 9-7. 39 runs in one night is amazing!

p.s. Rangers were down going into the fourth inning 3-0.

Also, they talked about Nolan Ryan today on the Ticket today. They said that he threw out the opening pitch for a game in Japan and they clocked it at 85mph. He's 60. Could you imagine what he could do with a little warm up?!!! WOW!

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, the Italian Stallion!

If anyone could pitch a couple of innings of relief at 60 years old, it's Nolan Ryan.

That exactly what they said on the Ticket - let the Rangers sign him up ... he'd last longer than most of their starters! ;)
